FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NOVEMBER 2, 2009

As you know, Unifyer is now the main communication venue for GBSPAM and other GBCC Community groups and its wonderful to see we have 50 members signed up in the GBSPAM Singles Activity Ministry! Woo Hoo!

However, we know that some employers allow limited personal access to work computers - mostly around going to websites for personal use. Also, some people do not have computers, and some have a computer and no internet. Or there could be other factors that we are unaware of preventing you from engaging in this system. If so, please share with Colleen and/or me - our contact info is at bottom of this message..... Personally, I'm really enjoying this new site and means of communicating! It's very cool in my book of loving "simplicity"!

Here are some ideas for those of you who may have limitations that was provided by GBCC staff:

  • For people who are allowed to receive personal emails at work, but are encouraged NOT to visit non-business related websites, they could register for Unifyer and sign up for vital groups. When an announcement is posted, it can be read in their regular email without accessing Uniyfer's site. If a person posting an announcement puts their email address in the body copy of the announcement, the recipient can reply from their email without going into Unifyer.

  • People can get free internet, email and computer use at the library. They can sign up for yahoo, aol, gmail, or hotmail and have access to Unifyer, personal email and the entire internet.

  • Some folks have a laptop and no internet provider. They can get hooked up with wi-fi and use free wireless available in many cities and businesses. You can often pull up to a business or be in certain neighborhoods and get free internet access.

  • People can sign up for a free internet provider, buy an iPod Touch for less than $200 and get access to Unifyer using free wireless internet in many places around the country. Apple has a free Unifyer app that can be downloaded. An iPod Touch has internet/email access, calendar, contacts, games...etc...

  • You can also put in the address for your phone as your email address to have messages go to your phone as texts.

If you have any other ideas please email me your comments and I will let the staff know to spread the word amongst other ministry team leaders. I hope this helps you to get and stay connected!

Here are the full details for the last time via this system!

What does this mean to the GBSPAM singles group?

    • Unifyer is the system that is replacing the weekly GBSPAM event emails sent out and replacing the Google group GBSPAM website. The last weekly GBSPAM singles event email(s) was sent the weekend of 10/24. The Google Group GBSPAM site will also be "sunsetted" soon and no more updates will be posted there either.
    • Many of you should have already received an email from Green Bay Community Church regarding Unifyer. Follow the instructions sent to you to create your user id and password.
    • If you did not receive an email from GBCC, you will need to click on the link near the bottom of this email to get registered, create a user id and password to gain access.
    • If you mistakenly deleted your email, contact the staff at GBCC for assistance because your email address is within the system. Phone number is 434-9225.
    • Once you are within the Unifyer system, save it as a “Favorite” in Windows Explorer. Also, when within the system, click on the Groups tab, find the group name “GBSPAM Singles Activity Ministry”, and move it to one of your open spaces to the left so this will always be one of your “groups” each time you log in! Feel free to select other groups such as Singles Monday Night Class, Dance Class, Outdoor Connection, and other ministries! It's a great way to get plugged into other GBCC offerings!
    • No longer am I (Debra Van Asten) able to enter in email addresses from individuals. People will need to be "registered" in order to receive and send GBSPAM event information.
    • I will continue to post some of the regular events that I attend on a consistent basis (i.e. Bowling & Pathway's FNF) within Unifyer. And I will continue to host other upcoming events.
    • I will no longer accept emails from GBSPAMers for events or other postings you want “advertised” and are hosting. Now YOU have the ability to post these yourselves for people to participate in and YOU can get the word out immediately without having to go through or wait on me! (Just like the GBSPAM Google site!) Guidelines to follow are simply to supply the event name and/or short description, date/time, location, and your contact information within the “GBSPAM Singles Activity Ministry” group. Please don't expect me to do this for you anymore! If a person can email, they can easily “post” a message! It's super simple!
    • If you know of anyone who wants to get “connected” to GBSPAM or other Community groups, inform them that they will need to register by going to the www.gbcommunitychurch.com website, click on the Unifyer icon, and fill out the registration form - link is near the bottom.
    • If for some reason, you truly are not able to use the Unifyer system, you can obtain GBSPAM event details on the GBCC Master Calendar or on the website www.foxvalleysingles.com . The only thing to remember is that if an event is canceled or a new one added within the month, you may not get an immediate message stating the update if you are not within Unifyer. So, this is my disclaimer stating "Event postings are subject to change" if you are not on Unifyer, where others and I can post the timely updates ourselves!

Here are questions you may have about this system:

    What is Unifyer?
Unifyer is a communication tool that Community is now using so the ministries and groups you're interested in can communicate directly with you - and you with them. After signing up, you can pick and choose the information you want to receive which means you don't have to muddle through a lot of unwanted information.

    Who should sign up?
Everyone connected to Community. Unifyer is only available to people connected to Green Bay Community Church Ministries and groups you are involved with.

Why should I sign up for Unifier?
Unifyer is the tool we will be using to communicate the bulk of information between the church groups and you, and you and the church groups. You can join groups you'd like information from and subscribe to news feeds. You can begin new groups and communicate publicly or privately with the people in your group.

    What happens after sign in?
Create your personal profile and upload a picture, if you have one! Click on the NEWS button to see what's happening in the church, watch the videos on how to use Unifyer, mark the GBSPAM Singles Activity Ministry as one of your groups, add others if you'd like, and start having fun! Play around - you can't hurt anything!

    Need more information?
If you need more information go to www.gbcommunitychurch.com, click on Unifyer, and open The Cynics Guide to Unifyer.

    To Register:
    http://php.gbccmedia.com/form/UnifyerRequest.php
Once you register you will receive an email with your user id and password within 48 hours.

If you have any further questions or need assistance, please contact the GBCC staff, Colleen, or me!
THANK YOU for all your continued support!
    See you in Unifyer!
