This was an unusual sight and there are two lessons here. Next to the log is a brave young buck that likely got swept away by fast water which pinned its head under the log and drowned. This could easily happen to a person. Nature has its way of balancing our ecosystem. When hiking along rivers and escarpments, take every precaution to come home intact while enjoying every step of your journey. I took this photo at Dave's Falls on the far side of the island. You might get wet feet or worse trying to get out there. Be careful not to end up like this deer.
