The Woods Golf Club & Banquet Facilities

Leave the Repellent at Home

Instead, put on something that attracts fun, friends, and opportunities.
A non-toxic friendly smile works wonders!
Then add some manly-man or feminine allure.
Let your imagination and animal instinct run wild.
Hey now, Not that wild!

Celebration in the Woods is a new event venue for those who are single, divorced, separated, or widowed. Get together with friends, and meet new one's, while enjoying several activities in one intriguing event-full day!

Celebration in the Woods is not a wilderness adventure in a secluded,
desolate, isolated, bug infested jungle—No deep woods off needed.

Experience fun, friends, and opportunities under the ole' oak tree in The Woods.

Imagine the possibilities. Almost a full day of recreation, learning, relating, and discovering new things and meeting new people. Whether you're a pro, novice, or wan-a-be golfer or dancer, you'll enjoy this opportunity with other single adults. Adventure waits for no-one. You must choose to make it happen. Here is your chance. Don't know where to meet single men and women who share your interests? Someone who might turn out to be a great friend, and perhaps more? Don't know where to learn the game of golf, practice dance moves and improve your social skills? Truth is, many of us are missing out on many wonderful things in life because we don't dance, golf, or communicate well. Some have the skills, just not the willingness to think outside the box and step out of their comfort zone. Try something new. Try something different. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Learn patients on and off the course—Golf. Learn to free yourself, express yourself, experience the closeness and connectedness of another person at your side—Dance... as if no one is watching.

A time to glow and grow! Events like this don't happen often!

Come. Learn. Relate. Discover!

Entertain, and be Entertained

Speed Dating
30-45 age group :: 1:30—2:45 PM (Please arrive by 1 PM)

46-59 age group :: 3—4:45 PM (Please arrive by 2:15 PM)

UPDATE: 09/18
Seems we have a dilemma. There aren't enough men registering for this event in the 46-59 age group. Therefore, as of this update, we regretfully have no choice but to discontinue accepting registrations from the ladies. At least temporarily. Any new registrations received after this update will be put on hold which is explained below.

THIS EVENT IS NOW FREE
We hope it will encourage men to register this week.
All pre-paid participants will get a refund.
The event will not be canceled.
When Registering
The online and printable forms will not be changed. When you register, do not carry over the cost of the speed dating event. If selecting a package deal with dinner and dance, reduce amount to remit accordingly. If unsure of the amount due, please call Scott at 676-7243. Registrations can be taken over the phone.

UPDATE: 09/06
If falling in the mid-range of the two age groups, you may participate in both age group events at no additional cost since many of us date +/- 3 to 7 years above or below or own age. We'd like to give you that opportunity.

At Celebration in the Park three years ago, over 90 people signed up, all rolled into one group. This year we'll have a separate event for ages 30-45 and 46-59. Those age 60 or slightly over may register to keep the number of men and women balanced.

We use the term speed dating because it's recognized nationally. We do not feel it's appropriate. This is an opportunity to get to know someone of the opposite gender, in 6 minutes, on the surface, then decide if there is a connection or chemistry. Dating begins when two people discuss and acknowledge their mutual interest in getting to know each other better. 70% of married couples surveyed say their spouse is their best friend. We encourage people to start as friends, then build on friendship as a foundational value for a lasting relationship.

Each participant will get a tally sheet to check off. If both persons indicate they want to meet again, we contact each within 48 hours to let them know they have a match and provide a contact phone number. Since we advocate face-to-face verbal communication, we do not give out email addresses. But ladies, if you're ready for a man to sweep you off your feet, you may have to make the first move and call him. Take the initiative, be the chooser. We live in a relationship shy, fearful, non-committal culture today. As we age ever so gracefully, both men and women alike should not deny themselves an opportunity to meet the man or women of their dreams if their honest and sincere desire is to be in a committed relationship. It's all to easy to get frustrated with the whole dating thing at any age these day's. Online dating is especially disheartening. We do understand. Life is short. Don't give up!

What's your philosophy on life?
Could your life improve with a partner who'll share every aspect of it with you?

We reserve the right to limit registrations after September 22nd as well as walk-in registrations day of event to maintain gender balance. Registrations received after September 23rd may be put on hold. Participants will then be "On Call" should a gender vacancy need to be filled. A slight male imbalance is common, however we wish to keep number of men and women somewhat equal so someone doesn't have to sit-out more than two rounds. Don't let this acknowledgement delay registration. Fees will be refunded should it become necessary to turn someone away.

Tongue Tied?
Not sure what questions to ask potential suitors? We'll gladly help! Check back here September 14th. Look for these titles to become links: Questions You Should Ask, Questions Not to Ask, and Suggestions to Keep you Focused on the things that really matter most. Print them off in advance and rehearse those most important to you. We'll provide these questions and suggestions at the event when checking in.

Community
Fox Valley Singles was initially created to communicate what was happening in the singles community in one place on the Internet and help with the marketing of groups and their events and to connect and engage single persons in unique ways through sponsored events where we can come together, share common interests, under one roof, and unite as one community.

NetworkingPromotion
Way's You Can Take Ownership In The Singles' Community at Events
  • Provide advertising you want displayed at events a few weeks in advance. We gladly promote all worthy causes and many other things too.
  • Provide announcements you want others in the singles community to know about. We'll give you the microphone or we'll gladly make them for you.
  • FVS events are for networking. We don't allow windshield tabloids, but do welcome promotions that help others earn a living, raise funds for a worthy cause such as non-profits like Cats Anonymous and DeYoung Family Zoo, or helps others in some unique way to live a more fulfilling life. All I ask is that you run it by me first—In advance.
  • You may want to acknowledge someone or something during our community recognitions. The microphone is yours. We just need to know a few details for a proper introduction and allow time for it in the schedule.
  • Consider doing some small part of the event, such as a game room indoors, outdoor activity, skit, comedy act, work the registration table, etc.
There are endless possibilities when we work together. We're open to ideas and very accommodating.

AlumniWelcome
Being involved in the singles community for better than nine years, I've seen many friendships develop into something truly beautiful. A love so strong can only be bound in the covenant of marriage. I invite our friends who are engaged to be married and those who've already tied the knot on the cord of three strands as a result of connecting through the singles community I proudly support and promote. I promise I wont drag anyone up to share their stories. It's always nice to see and hear how singles groups and singles ministries tug on heart strings and connect couples— Bringing many to renounce their love and commitment to one another in marriage, becoming one flesh, before God and others.

Please join us for a date night out. Have dinner and kick up your heels.
What a novel idea!

Integrity
Integrity, yours and ours, should never be taken for granted. Through hard work and dedication, we've come a long way since our beginning. We give unconditionally, our lives and resources, to what we do for others and our communities. Lets make this event a huge success by respecting The Woods facilities and showing our gratitude and appreciation for the privilege of using it.

Be vigilant as it relates to establishing relationships. We abide by a moral and ethical standard set long before the media and politics lowered the bar. We're striving to raise that bar by building organization's and creating events that single's not only appreciate, but participate in, because we're a second family by choice—Trusting, safe, supportive, loving. Hey dude, you're laughing! What, that doesn't at all sound like your family situation? I can so relate. My family is dysfunctional too. I can't change my family, but do want to change the community I belong to. Lets do life together!

Registration
Advance registration is your best deal. Take advantage of it, register today so we can provide you an awesome experience. Singles' events need your support, but more importantly your participation. We look forward to similar monthly events at this venue in the future. Your support and participation at this event will ensure it!

Please check in at the registration table just inside the Oak Room entrance upon arrival.
