Hurry Up and Wait

It's our life - we hurry up
And then we have to wait.
We hurry up for the latest sale
And then wait to be helped.
We hurry up to get the mail
And wait - it's not delivered yet.
We hurry up to get to the movie
And then wait to buy tickets.
We hurry up to get our key
Then wait to open the door.
We hurry up for the fast lane
Then wait for who's in front of us.
We hurry up to miss the rain
Then wait for the sun to come out.
It's our life - we hurry up
And then we wait.
We need to hurry up for God
And then wait for His Second Coming.
It's our life - we must hurry up
And then we must wait -
But be ready
Always be ready
For Him!!

REMEMBER...FOR ME!

Written in memory of my brothers - one who committed suicide in 1981, and another who died of severe pneumonia in 1997

Remember for me
the birds and the trees
For which I can no longer see.
Remember for me
the variety of flowers
In their petals, beauty is their power.
Remember for me
clouds in the sky above
Their forms are made of heavenly love.
Remember for me
children happy at play
On the most beautiful, warmest day.
Remember for me
for now that I am gone
The colorful sunrise at early dawn.
Remember oh please
that I'm not far away
You will be with me some
glorious day!

SISTER

This poem is in memory of my sister who died April, 2001.

Great sorrow I bear
For a life full of pain
There'll be no tomorrow
For this body that's lain
In a casket so soft.
Flowers everywhere
A service to be said
For a life so rare.
Dear Sis I'll miss you
For now you're gone
May we be together
In God's early dawn.

SISTER 'Tis great sorrow I bear
For a life full of pain

And no wisdom to gain
An urn of black and gold
Flowers are everywhere
A service to be said
For a life that's so rare
Dear Sis I will miss you
For now that you are gone
May we be together
In God's own early dawn.

That little voice inside you
Are you listening to it?
That little voice inside you
Are you always heeding it?
That tap on the shoulder
And not a soul is around.
That tap on the shoulder
Watch out!
Danger will abound!
That push from behind
Yet no one is there.
That push from behind
Don't do what you dare!
That little voice inside you
Is your God speaking
That little voice inside you
Knows the answer you're seeking.
That tap on the shoulder
An angel is behind you.
That tap on the shoulder
He is there to warn you.
That push from behind
Will keep you from danger
That push from behind
He is not a stranger.
Heed the voice within...
Feel safe if you're tapped...
And the push is only a reminder....
HE won't leave you at that!!

About the Author

Debbie lives in the Appleton area with her husband Dave. Together they are raising a blended family and pursuing their interests with enthusiasm. Her writing talent goes well beyond poetry, but since time is limited raising a family and working a full time job, Debbie's writing passion is fulfilled by her poetry at this time. She has been an inspiration and faithful friend of Scott's for years.
