As the winds shift from north to south, our day's get longer and our surroundings blossom with new life. Summer is a season we look forward to. Summer is a time of excitement and anticipation. Isn't it great to be a part of our surroundings and all the wonderful people, places and things which is a part of it? So full of life, so much to live for. Everyday seems to breath hope that single life this summer will fill our hearts beyond every hope and dream.
Hope is powerful, but how can our surroundings bring us to a new season in life? Is that even what we a seeking? My hope and prayer is that you and I can enjoy every season in life, and do so in the company of those who love us unconditionally. With those who accept us as we are, yet in a kind and loving way nudge us to reach for what we hope and dream.
Lynn Mineau and Warren Clark facilitate the St. Paul's Singles Group. Warren also serves on the FootLoose Over 30 Singles board of directors. He is a man who loves to have fun, is witty and enjoys a good joke. He will even laugh at a bad joke after a few beers. Lynn is a middle school teacher and enjoys teaching older kid's too. You know...like me and Warren! It's true, I'm not speaking for Warren of course, but I have the imagination of a 5 year old, and I.Q of a 3 year old. Warren is the kind of guy who will allow a woman's name first as a facilitator before his own recognition. Of course Lynn insisted it was right since, well....It's Just Right!
Lynn and Warren are taking the summer off as do many singles groups. And it's not uncommon for groups, that do stay active over the summer, to reduce the number of meetings and events held. You see,...Warren needs to spend all his spare time golfing this summer so he can get good at it, and Lynn needs to teach Warren there is more to life than golf which may take all summer and fall.
They are our mentors and role models. Jokes aside, I have a deep respect for what groups and their leadership does for the community, their church or chartered organization. More importantly, what Lynn and Warren do for everyone who attends the discussion group meetings at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Green Bay. And they do it in a fun, lively format complete with silly props. I have yet to attend a meeting where anyone was uncomfortable or asleep. They often perform planned live skit's on how a make-believe, in your wildest dreams, husband and wife team who work together relate to one another, and have a great time doing it.
This was not intended to be a roast of two warm and wonderful people whom I call friends, but to be a thank you, and to honor all the people who give so much of themselves to help and provide a means to a better quality of life for singles in Wisconsin. I'm personally grateful for their dedication and commitment and I believe I speak for many others whom lives they have all touched and brought together. They truly honor God in their service to others, and do so unconditionally.
